Using The Jobs Page
The Jobs page within MSA is essentially the "hub" of organizing the work at your shop. This page is customizable so you can create zones and move jobs around to the different zones to organize the work flow. Each job has many different visual ques for seeing at a glance what various stages of a project, such as needing parts, needing a signature, if someone is tracking time on it, or when the job is done.
Details
The Jobs page has many different functions. To start, there are three "zones", or columns, by default. These zones are the estimates zone, active jobs zone, and the completed jobs zone.
- Estimates zone is exactly what it says. a place to make estimates. Estimates will not have a job view to them, only a work order view which gives you the total estimate for the project. you cannot assign estimates to anyone, you cannot schedule them, The do not preload to the browsers cache when logging in or refreshing the browser, and they wont appear on any reports. You can go into any estimate and make them into jobs from within the work order view, or you can drag them by grabbing the three dots in the estimate box from the jobs page, and dragging it to a different zone.
- Active jobs zones are all the zones you manually create, plus the default one that is there to begin with. Any zone can be renamed at the top of the column. People commonly name them based on area of your shop that best represents the jobs in the zone, such as "paint", "Engine", "Tuning", etc. Jobs can be freely moved from one zone to the next by dragging them using the three dots. The zones can also be moved around using the Three dots at the top of the column where the header is. All the jobs in active zones will be preloaded when you log in, meaning accessing these jobs is very fast when you click into one.
- Completed zone if essentially your shops archive. Move jobs to this zone when you are done with them, and have recieved payment. Once the jobs are in this zone, they wont preload into the browsers cache, and it will speed up the login process as well as generally allowing the page to load fastest by minimizing the number of active jobs.
The jobs page can also be sorted using the drop down menus at the top, allowing you to show only jobs with parts that need to be ordered, and you can even sort zones into departments, and display specific departments.
